The Appledown Centre nestles in the heart of rural Hampshire on the western edge of the South Downs. divider Details & Fees for all types of Tuition Tuition in singing and musicianship is available privately, in groups and through workshops and masterclasses.

Gillian Gray The centre offers individual and group tuition in singing and musicianship, with associated singing workshops, masterclasses and concerts, under the directorship of Gillian Gray.

The vocal and instrumental ensemble Ceciliana are based at the centre, the member musicians being available for a wide variety of performances, either as an ensemble or individually, from weddings to fund raising concerts.
Our performers also include Gillian Gray, mezzo soprano soloist and The Lainston Singers, an amateur ladies group, who perform to raise funds for local charities.

The Pat Gray Arts (Music) & Rural Education Trust (GARET) arranges events for all age groups, encouraging experience of and participation in the arts and rural activities.

A small number of in-house publications are also available to purchase.
The Appledown All Age Training Choir provides a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of choir practise and choral singing based on the RSCM 'Voice for Life' award scheme.

Details & Prices of Music Publications Publications available by mail order include 'The Singers Notebook' and 'The Music Reader's Notebook'.
We have several events planned for the coming year, plus a wide variety of classes in muscianship.

From the South:
  • Approach on the A31
  • Bypass Alresford and take the first exit from the roundabout at Ropley, signposted to Bishop's Sutton
  • Once in the village of Bishop's Sutton, pass The Ship Inn on the right and take the next left hand turning
  • Immediately fork left in to Scrubbs Lane
  • Follow this road for just under one mile, round a sharp right hand bend, up a short hill and turn right at the top
  • Scrubbs Farm is at the end.

  • Approach on the A31
  • Take the third exit from the Ropley roundabout
